COVID-19
Please know that the safety of the campers is our top priority. The summer camp at GCA is licensed by the State of CT and inspected annually. We are following all of the state guidelines and mandates that all summer camps in CT are required to follow. After working with Camp Director, Kelly Marchell, the management team and the Board of Governors, we are implementing the following for summer camp in 2020:
- Each week of camp will be limited to 30 campers. The campers will be put into 3 groups of 10 based on age and swim ability. It will be a priority to group any guests with their member host and we will communicate ahead of camp if this is not possible. Requests for friends to be together can be made in advance but can’t be guaranteed.
- Each group will remain together for the entire one week session and not comingle with the other groups. To achieve this, there will be separate drop off and pick up locations for each of the 3 groups, separate lunch areas and the groups will be at least 6 feet apart when participating in any swim, tennis or pool instruction.
- Camp registration for each week will end the previous Thursday. Late registration will not be allowed to allow time to form groups and communicate to members accordingly.
- We will not be able to offer before or after care this summer.
- All staff and campers will be required to be screened for any observable illness, including cough or respiratory distress, and to confirm temperate is below 100 degrees Fahrenheit. This screening will be done every morning upon arrival. If a child becomes ill during the day, the child will be taken to a “sick room” and a parent will be called to pick up the child as soon as possible.
- All staff will be required to wear a mask or cloth face covering as directed by the Department of Economic Development Safe Workplace Rules. Campers will not be required to wear masks.
- Lunch will be served individually to each camper (no buffet). There will be 3 choices daily and each child will be asked to make their selection upon arrival.
- The sharing of sports equipment will not be allowed. Campers will need to bring their own tennis racquet. We encourage campers to bring their own golf clubs if they have them, but we will provide one if needed and sanitize accordingly. Please call the golf and tennis shops now if you need to purchase equipment.
- GCA will be required to obtain a signed consent form from a parent confirming that they have received notice regarding risks of COVID-19 for high risk individuals (GCA will send the appropriate form).
